Ford's Pond

Ford’s Pond beckons to those who enjoy birding, fishing, kayaking/canoeing and walking in nature. This is a primitive city park, currently under development.

The 202-acre property is located on the west side of Sutherlin, with parking available off Church Rd. Take I-5 Exit 136 to Hwy 138 W. Church Rd. is 1-mile west of the interstate.

The nonprofit Friends of Ford’s Pond currently maintains a 1.75-mile primitive path around the 95-acre pond and a more challenging 1-mile primitive loop trail on the west hillside. Both are unimproved, proper footwear suggested (including waterproof boots during the rainy season). A walking group gathers each Monday at 9 a.m. for a brisk walk. All are welcome to join. Non-motorized craft (electric motors operated under 5 mph may be used) are allowed on the 95-acre Ford’s Pond (they must be carried in). Fishing for bass, crappie, and catfish is permitted with a state license and enjoyed from watercraft or shoreline.

Ford’s Pond is a birding hot-spot, with over 185 species recorded. Bald eagles are frequently observed.

There is a portable restroom, but no other facilities at this time. Leashed dogs are welcome; pet waste bags are available. Pack all trash and pet waste out. No hunting is permitted. Ford's Pond is day-use only.
